Afghan Forces Kill 9 Taliban in Ghazni Clashes

GHAZNI – At least nine Taliban, including two leaders, were killed in clashes with security forces in central Ghazni province, the Ministry of Defense (MoD) said in a statement on Thursday.
The clashes started after the Taliban attacked security checkpoints in Khawja Omaeri district, the statement said, adding: “Fortunately, the Taliban attack has been pushed back by commando forces.”
Recently, Taliban announced that they would release Afghan forces prisoners before Eid. Meanwhile, President Ghani announced that Taliban prisoners release will be soon completed.
Taliban also announced a three-day ceasefire during Eid celebration.
However, the Taliban have not yet commented on Thursday’s attack.
