BRI is Game Changer for Countries Like Pakistan: Shaukat Aziz

BEIJING – Former Pakistani Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz said that the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) launched by Chinese President Xi Jinping has brought tangible benefits to participating countries and is changing the game for countries like Pakistan.
Speaking at a parallel forum of the Fourth “Understanding China” Conference that opened in Guangzhou City, southern China, he said: “The OBOR is changing the game for countries like Pakistan.”
He further said that, we have a new port and the inland trains have also been improved. The initiative is accompanied by developments in areas such as infrastructure, financing and after-sales service.
He added that hundreds of people had found jobs through the BIS and that more and more ships have started arriving in our country.
So far, China has signed cooperation documents with more than 160 countries and international organizations as part of this initiative. With the rapid growth of the BIS, China has strengthened its market-oriented cooperation with the countries concerned to improve their industrial structure.
From 2013 to 2018, the volume of trade between China and other countries along the belt and road exceeded $6,000 billion and Chinese investment in these countries exceeded $90 billion.
“Although proposed by China, the opportunities and achievements of the BRI are shared by the world,” said Zhao Ai, executive vice president of the China Society for Economic Reform.
Moreover, he said, “The cooperation between the countries has opened up a new space for global economic growth, has built a new platform for international trade and investment and has contributed to the improvement of the global governance system.”
