Britain to Support ANDSF With £70 Million Next Year

KABUL – The British Embassy in Kabul has announced that the country is committed to supporting Afghan National Defense and Security Forces (ANDSF) with £70 million next year.
The British embassy in a press statement on Tuesday said that London pledged its support for the ANDSF at the general meeting in Brussels yesterday.
At the meeting, NATO allies and partners reaffirmed their continued financial support for the Afghan security forces until 2024.
The British Embassy in Kabul added that, in addition to financial support from other donors, the UK is providing financial, technical, and professional assistance to the Afghan security forces and strengthening their core activities to put the country on its sustainable path to stability and peace.
Earlier, in May 2016, during the NATO foreign ministerial in Brussels, at the time Secretary Philip Hammond said UK will continue to support the ANDSF.
He further added, “In a strong show of the UK’s enduring commitment to Afghanistan, Hammond confirmed that Britain would provide £210 million to sustain its contribution of £70 million per year until 2020.”
