NATO Senior Civilian Representative for Afghanistan Meets Atmar

KABUL – Foreign Minister Haneef Atmar met with Ambassador Stefano Pontecorvo, NATO Senior Civilian Representative for Afghanistan.
The meeting took place on Wednesday, Stefano assured and stressed the continuous support and cooperation with Afghanistan over the fight against terrorism and the peace process.
FM Atmar expressed his appreciation for NATO’s support and hailed decisions at recent meetings of NATO Foreign and Defense ministers on Afghanistan.
According to the released statement of the Foreign Ministry, Atmar stressed further cooperation and coordination between the Afghan government and NATO allies.
Both parties have also discussed the importance of cooperation and joint efforts between Afghanistan and the international community in the upcoming Turkey summit.
“They underscored the need for continued consultations and exchanges for the success of the peace talks,” read the statement.
Pontecorvo during the meeting assured Afghanistan and Atmar of continued support and cooperation in the fight against terrorism.
