MAIMANA – Afghan Security Forces repulsed Taliban attack Thursday night in Qesar district of Faryab province, local authorities confirmed.
Abdul Karim Yourish, spokesperson for the local police, said at least 23 Taliban insurgents have been killed and further 17 wounded.
Meanwhile, four Afghan forces were killed and further one injured during clashes with Taliban in the area, Yourish added.
The attack that lasted until midnight Thursday was warded off by Peoples Uprising and Afghan Security Forces, according to the spokesperson.
Clashes between Afghan security forces and Taliban have continued despite the efforts are underway in Qatar for peace talks.
Taliban have not yet commented on the incident.
