The Dutch Envoy Praises Pakistan’s Progress in the Elimination of Terrorism

ISLAMABAD – The outgoing Ambassador of the Netherlands, Ardi Stoios-Braken, bid farewell to Pakistan President Arif Alvi in Presidential palace, Islamabad. Mr. Alvi congratulated the outgoing ambassador for the successful completion of his mandate in Pakistan and appreciated his efforts to improve bilateral relations during his tenure, Express Tribune reported Friday.
In addition, the president emphasized that the bilateral trade between the two countries was not in line with its real potential and that it should be improved.
“Pakistan and the Netherlands enjoy friendly and cordial relations, which need further strengthening for the mutual benefit of the people of both countries, as well as in the context of the European Union,” the Pakistani president said.
In this context, Pakistan sees the SGP Plus Scheme as a constructive commitment to improving its economy, since it has boosted the government’s socio-economic agenda by improving trade between Pakistan and the EU, he added.
The Pakistani president also highlighted the need to increase collaboration between the universities of the two countries to exchange knowledge for the benefit of the research community.
He further added that freedom of expression comes with the responsibility of human rights, laws and norms.
He stressed the need to improve bilateral and international cooperation to control Islamophobia, counteract incitement to racial and religious hatred and build bridges between civilizations.
In this regard, he thanked the Government of the Netherlands for its efforts to discourage racial and religious hatred.
“Pakistan’s security situation has improved markedly due to the tremendous sacrifices made by its armed forces, law enforcement agencies and people in the fight against terrorism under its National Action Plan,” he added.
The Dutch Ambassador thanked the government and the people of Pakistan for their pleasant stay in the country. He also praised the sacrifices of the people of Pakistan to stop the threat of terrorism in the country.
He said that the Netherlands was ready to cooperate with Pakistan in various fields, including dairy, agriculture, water management, maritime sector and technology transfer.
