Zarif Advises Pompeo to Read UNSC Resolution 2231

TEHRAN – Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammed Javad Zarif advises US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo to read UNSCR 2231.
In a tweet on Thursday, Zarif wrote: “Still wrong, @SecPompeo. Nothing new is happening on 09/20. Just Res.2231.”
“Bolton – who convinced the boss to order you to ‘STOP US involvement’ – did so,” he added.
“In his words: the process is not ‘simple,’ automatic, or quick. But intentionally ‘complex and time-consuming.’ The United States is NOT a participant.” he noted.
US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo claimed Washington had delivered a letter to the UN invoking a snapback against Iran to bring back the sanctions in 30 days.
Referring to the process of restoring sanctions against Iran, he added that “we are convinced that the trigger mechanism will be implemented against Iran”.
It was then that France, Germany and the United Kingdom (E3) announced in a statement that they would not support the United States in invoking a snapback against Iran, which is incompatible with current efforts to support the Iran nuclear deal.
Earlier on Wednesday, Iranian President Hassan Rouhani said that the US administration had not invoked the take-back clause of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) thanks to the consensus of UN Security Council member states qualifying the American candidacy of null and void.
Rouhani said next Saturday and Sunday would be victory days for the Iranians, and a humiliating defeat for the US administration was on the way.
