ANSF Launch Walid-40 Operations in Balkh Province

MAZAR-E-SHARIF – The Afghan Military in the North has announced that the National Defense and Security Forces have launched Walid-40 operations in northern Balkh province.
The 209th Shaheen Corps, in a statement, said at least six Taliban militants were killed or wounded during the first day of operations.
The statement further added that the operations have been launched to suppress militants and eliminate existing threats.
“The Afghan Special Forces and Air Force have also taken part in the newly-launched Walid-40 operations,” the statement added.
At least three Taliban militants were killed and three others were wounded during the first day of operations in Baba Qushqar area of Chematal district, the 209th Shaheen Corps said, adding that several fighting positions of Taliban have fallen into the hands of armed forces so far.
Taliban have not yet confirmed the incident.
