China to Promote Fair Access to Vaccines in Developing Countries

BEIJING – Chinese Foreign Ministry spokeswoman, Hua Chunying, said on Monday that China will be true to its word and continue to promote equitable access to Covid-19 vaccines in developing countries.
China has announced that it will provide 10 million doses of vaccine to COVAX for emergency use in developing countries, and is maintaining close communication with the World Health Organization (WHO) on the matter, said Hua during a press briefing.
The WHO on Friday announced the approval of the Sinopharm vaccine for the Emergency Use List (EUL), making it the sixth vaccine to receive WHO validation for its safety, efficacy and quality.
The approval reflects the international community’s recognition of the research and development, production and safety of Sinopharm vaccines in accordance with international standards, CGTN reported.
More importantly, after WHO approval, vaccines will be able to contribute more to the global fight against the pandemic as they enter the global purchasing and supply system, the state-owned television channel said.
So far, China has provided vaccines to more than 100 countries and international organizations amid the resurgence of Covid-19 epidemics around the world.
