Kashmir is Not India’s Personal Matter: Qureshi

ISLAMABAD – Pakistani Foreign Minister, Shah Mahmood Qureshi, on Monday said: “Nothing about Jammu and Kashmir can be India’s business”.
In a tweet, he said the Kashmir issue was an internationally recognized dispute on the UN Security Council’s agenda.
“The final settlement of the dispute lies in the #UNSC resolution calling for a free and impartial plebiscite under the auspices of the UN.”
Last week, in an interview with Pakistani Channel, Qureshi said Section 370 was India’s personal affair. Article 370 of the Indian constitution granted special status to Jammu and Kashmir. He was dismissed by the government in 2019.
Qureshi said India’s decision was challenged in the Indian Supreme Court and he did not worry about it.
He said Section 35A is important for Pakistan. It allows the legislature of Jammu and Kashmir to define permanent residents of the state, their special rights and privileges.
The minister added that by removing this, India could restructure the demographics of Kashmir.
