Person Who Resolves Kashmir Conflict is Worthy of Nobel Peace Prize: Khan

ISLAMABAD – Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan said on Monday that he is not worthy of the award, responding to calls by social media and his government for a Nobel Peace Prize, “Dawn news” reported Monday.
He said, He who is worthy would be the one who would solve the Kashmir conflict according to the wishes of the Kashmir people and pave the way for peace and human development in the subcontinent.
Supporters and fans of Imran Khan began lobbying for the Prime Minister’s Nobel Peace Prize after announcing his release from Indian Air Force (IAF) Commander Abhinandan, who was captured after his MiG 21 plane was shot down by a Pakistan Air Force.
Shortly after the captive pilot was handed over to the Indian authorities on Friday, the hashtag #NobelPeacePrizeForImranKhan began to be used in the country on the social networking site Twitter. Until Sunday, more than 300,000 people had signed online petitions calling for the awarding of the Nobel Peace Prize to Khan.
On Saturday, Pakistani Federal Minister of Information and Broadcasting, Fawad Chaudhry, submitted a resolution to the National Assembly Secretariat asking Imran Khan to receive the prestigious award for “his contribution to peace in the region”.
The resolution states that the prime minister played a sagacious role in reducing the recent tension between Pakistan and India, which was created because of the warmongering attitude of Indian leaders.
The aggression by Indian leaders had brought the two nuclear states to the brink of war, endangering the lives of tens of millions of people on both sides of the border. However, the situation was avoided, thanks to its proactive and skillful management of the Prime Minister.
“Given his contribution to peace in the region, Prime Minister Imran Khan could be awarded the Nobel Peace Prize,” the resolution concluded.
